The European Foundry Industry Sentiment Index (FISI) with a minimal decline in October 2025.
The European Foundry Industry Sentiment Index (FISI), published monthly by European Foundry Federation, decreased by 0.4 point in October 2025, reaching a level of 94.3 points.
It is important that in the cast iron foundry, in October 2025, the index increased by 0.1 points, reaching a value of 96.1 (compared to a value of 96.0 in September 2025). Taking into account the expectations for the next six months, slightly negative moods are palpable. The index decreased by 0.8 points, reaching 85.0.

In the European steel foundry in October 2025, the FISI index recorded an increase of 1.0 point compared to the September data, reaching 76.6. As in the cast iron industry, expectations for the next six months are negative. The value of the expectations index reached 99.5, recording a decrease of 1.3 points compared to the data from September 2025.
In October 2025, the European non-ferrous metal foundry recorded an increase in the index by 0.5 points, thus reaching the value of 132.6. As in the situation of cast iron and cast steel, the expectation index for the next half of the year decreased by 1.7 points and amounted to 147.9.
The Business Climate Index (BCI), published by the European Commission, reached ‑0,47 in October 2025, compared to the previous reading of ‑0.73 in September 2025.
The Eurozone Manufacturing PMI in October 2025 reached a level of 50.0 which was an increase by 0.2 point from 49.8 in September 2025.
The FISI – European Foundry Industry Sentiment Indicator – is the earliest available composite indicator providing information on the European foundry industry performance. It is published by EFF — European Foundry Federation every month and is based on survey responses of the European foundry industry. The EFF members are asked to give their assessment of the current business situation in the foundry sector and their expectations for the next six months.
The BCI – Business Climate Indicator – is an indicator published by the European Commission. The BCI evaluates development conditions of the manufacturing sector in the euro area every month and uses five balances of opinion from industry survey: production trends, order books, export order books, stocks and production expectations.
Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) - in the Euro area is an indicator of the economic health of the manufacturing sector. It is based on such indicators as: new orders, inventory levels, production, supplier deliveries and the employment environment.
