Dr Roberto Ariotti leads the EFF Exec­ut­ive Committee

Dr Roberto Ariotti, chair­man of the Italian Foundry Asso­ci­ation since 2013, was elec­ted pres­id­ent of the Exec­ut­ive Com­mit­tee at the coun­cil meet­ing of EFF. He suc­ceeds Mr Luis Filipe Vil­las-Boas, who had held the pos­i­tion for the last four years.

Dr Ariotti, who’s family’s foundry of the 4th gen­er­a­tion sup­plies the wind energy sec­tor, stresses that it is vital to pro­mote the foundry industry’s repu­ta­tion as a solu­tion pro­vider for the Green Revolu­tion the entire European industry is about to experience:

“Our industry is an integ­ral part of the cir­cu­lar eco­nomy, but we need to increase our vis­ib­il­ity and get this mes­sage across to poli­cy­makers as well as to the pub­lic. Our industry is facing sig­ni­fic­ant change, but cast­ings remain fun­da­mental to the sup­ply chain for e‑mobility, renew­able energy and sus­tain­ab­il­ity pro­grammes and we know that metals are infin­itely recyclable.”

At the same time, Dr Ariotti emphas­ises the secur­ing of the com­pet­it­ive­ness of the European foundry industry as an import­ant corner­stone of his man­date. For the con­vinced European, these chal­lenges and oppor­tun­it­ies can only be tackled by a strong EFF that relies on close coordin­a­tion between the mem­ber asso­ci­ations. Driv­ing for­ward research and devel­op­ment, pro­mot­ing digit­isa­tion as well as demon­strat­ing the import­ance of industry for regional employ­ment offers scope for strength­en­ing social and envir­on­mental sus­tain­ab­il­ity in Europe in the long term.

To achieve this, he intends to con­tinue the work of his pre­de­cessor, Vil­las Boas, who was intensely com­mit­ted to exchanges with the European Com­mis­sion, in par­tic­u­lar by ensur­ing that the foundry industry is deeply involved in the ongo­ing BREF revi­sion. Vil­las-Boas remains mem­ber of the Exec­ut­ive Com­mit­tee beside Wil­frid Boy­ault (France) and S. Koray Hatipo­glu (Tur­key), who both join the Com­mit­tee, as well as Wit­old Dobosz (Poland), Dr Pam Mur­rell (UK) Max Schu­macher (Ger­many) and Ignacio de la Peña (Spain), pres­id­ent of EFF who chaired the coun­cil meeting.
