The European Foundry Federation has signed a joint statement, together with European industry associations and the European trade union industriAll, calling on the European Parliament, Council and Commission to agree on the broadest possible extension of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) to downstream products.
As free allowances under the EU ETS are progressively phased out, products left outside the CBAM scope risk being replaced by imports or relocated to third countries without equivalent carbon costs.
The signatories ask EU institutions to put European industrial production, investments and quality jobs at the centre of the final agreement.
