EFF Forum 2019: Strategic Trends and Best Practices

by | Jul 5, 2019

For the very first time, EFF organised a lecture forum at GIFA on Friday, 28 June 2019. Many interested visitors from all around the world listened to lectures of the EFF Forum with focus on strategy and management topics for the foundry industry. Nine speakers from seven European countries looked at future trends from completely different perspectives.

These days everyone talks about buzz words like, Industry 4.0, digitalisation and globalisation. But the question arising is: how can foundries react to these tremendous changes? The speakers presented various approaches to the strategic development of the future foundry business by looking at these major challenges. Thereby, one focus was on data generation and how the resulting additional knowledge can be used to optimise casting processes of the future. Another emphasis was on challenges surrounding the development and recruitment of personnel and how the safe working environment of the future could be shaped.
Overall, the EFF Forum presented best practices, gave interesting insights on the European foundry industry and provided the audience with impressions and new ideas for their own innovative and future work.

Dr. Pamela Murrell, Chief Executive of the Cast Metals Federation (UK) talked about “Home Grown Talent — a people centred approach to strategic company development” — Best Practice of Wall Colmonoy Ltd
