On 6 November 2025 the European Foundry Federation (EFF) held its Automotive Casting Section meeting in Düsseldorf, bringing together representatives from leading companies and associations across Europe.
This dynamic group represents around half of the continent’s total casting output, confirming its strategic importance within the European mobility and metals value chains.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on current market challenges, policy developments, and technological innovations shaping the automotive casting sector. Discussions also focused on ensuring that the role of foundries is fully recognised within European industrial policies, particularly under the EU Steel & Metals Action Plan and in the ongoing debate on the new Trade Defense Tool.
EFF Secretary General Ainhoa Ondarzabal thanked all participants for their valuable contributions, underlining the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in advancing the sector’s sustainability and competitiveness.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of European automotive foundries to driving the green and digital transitions, reinforcing their position as a cornerstone of Europe’s industrial ecosystem.
